Teaching Scholarships in Alaska

  • Patty Hamilton Early Childhood Development Scholarship

    Must be an Alaska resident and junior or senior majoring in Early Childhood Development/Education; preference given to students who have worked with or volunteered with young children and submit a paragraph describing their experience

  • Patricia Ann Hughes Eastaugh Memorial Teaching Scholarship

    Must be a first-time incoming freshman enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program with an emphasis on teaching; must intend to become an elementary or secondary school teacher in Alaska; must be an Alaska resident and a graduate of a public or private high school in Alaska; preference given to students in the top 25% of their class and those who show a desire to teach; personal statement required

  • Ralph Yetka Memorial Scholarship

    Full-time students and graduates of Ketchikan or Revilla High School; must have a minimum GPA of 2.5; must be majoring in elementary or secondary education, engineering, computer science, or aviation.

  • Alaska Teacher Education Loan

    Must be Alaska high school graduate, nominated by a rural school district; must pursue a degree in elementary or secondary education; borrowers may be eligible for up to 100% debt forgiveness if they return to Alaska and teach in a rural area.

  • AlaskAdvantage Education Grant

    Applicants must demonstrate exceptional academic preparation for higher education (top quartile SAT or ACT scores), those enrolled in workforce shortage programs, such as teaching and paraprofessional education, may be eligible for a priority award of up to $3,000, priority is given to those with the greatest financial need.
